Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA The Goldtones - Live! At The Teenbeat Club in Las Vegas
|Live! At The Teenbeat Club in Las Vegas is an extremely rare album. At this point in their history, only Randy Seol remains from the original trio lineup of The Goldtones that produced "Strike" and "Gutterball." Seol had joined The Goldtones at the age of 8! In a few short months, Randy Seol would go off to join Thee Sixpence, which morphed into Strawberry Alarm Clock. This album was recorded in 1965 while these kids were still in high school.|
Picks: Midnight In Vegas
Track by Track Review
With only a passing nod to Kenny Ball's "Midnight In Moscow," this song opens with tremolo guitar laying out the progression from The Wailers' "Tall Cool One." Indeed, this is little more than a stones throw from that venerable instro. Lead is carried by vibes, break dominated by sax, while the shimmer of the tremolo guitar in sync with the bass provide pulsing sensuality. "Midnight In Vegas" is a very well arranged and executed four-minute instro.
