Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA Gift Of Love - Take A Trip c/w Flowers

 | This is a great single. It's post surf pop psych instrumental, but by is it ever worth tracking down. Gift Of Love was an alter ego of The Atlantics, and for that alone, it needs to be aired. |
Picks: Take A Trip, Flowers

Surfadelic (Instrumental)
Organ chords and reverb crashes start this ripper off right. Double picked at times, echo laden in the traditional Atlantics style, but clearly from a post surf period melodically. "Take A Trip" is an example of what happened when surfbands encountered garage psych. Raucous and visual.
Surf (Instrumental)
"Flowers" may be titled for 1967, but it's more surf than psych, though the whistling organ is much like pop psych. A splendid melody and easy flowing rhythm are very easy to take. Very nice!
"Flowers" was listed as by Gift Of Love, but it was The Atlantics of course.
