Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA Freddy And The Fender Boys - Bonanza c/w Roll Wagon Roll

 | No, not surf, but this 1961 single uses tremolo guitar and is relatively honest - that is that the recordings sound like they are of an actual band, not a project. |
Picks: Bonanza

Rock (Instrumental)
This is an unusual cover of the TV show theme - unusual in that it's poppy like the Al Caiola hit, but much lighter and more tremolo dominated. In some ways, it's more honest, i.e. less contrived, but it's also not rock'n'roll loud. Still, it's quite nice. The guitar is tremolo driven, the bass solid, and the drums interesting, but it's the sax that sets it apart aurally more than any other element.
Roll Wagon Roll
Rock (Instrumental)
Partly derived from "Oh Suzanna," this is not as interesting as its a-side, but it's equally sincere. Sax, bass, cool drums and light guitar.
