The Finks - Dirty Rotten Finksdotdotdot
artworkThe "Dirty Rotten" Finks in a post active line up, spiriting up some surfy garage stuff. Not exactly leftovers, more like afterthoughts.
Picks: Meltdown, Close Out Pier II, Marauder, Tsunami Wipeout

Track by Track Review

Meltdown dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is a strongly reverbed and dribbled track, chunky and spiritously delivered. Whammy chorded, Surf Trio oriented, wetly picked. More than a progression, less than a melody. Cool track.

Close Out Pier II dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is "Rumble On The Docks," originally done by the Vulcanes. It's not as thick, but has the edge. This is one of the great mean obscuros, so it's nice to hear someone covering it. This is more surf pristine and less evil, but it works really well.

Marauder dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Damped surf, plucked infectiously in a mid tempo twang tune. The double picked parts scream for the breaks to be applied, but alas there is no relief. This is much like a merger between the Vydells and the Pyramids. Pretty cool.

Tsunami Wipeout dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

With a stormy intensity, this churns out a warning to all who ride the curl on the coast. It's somewhat dangerous, and yet not hazardous. A solid track.
