Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA Fifty Foot Combo - Plays - Everybody Up! c/w The Tunnel

 | First single from a band with a mission - high energy well played surf, with a garage edge. The performances are strong, and the over all sessions are very energetic. This is a good single. Unlike many garage surf releases, this is a good recording, and is without the slop usually in attendance. |

Track by Track Review
Surf (Instrumental)
The original version of this song was recorded by the Fender VI. It remains one of my all-time faves. Here, Fifty Foot Combo give it a raw power edge that changes it;s character some, much like the Treble Spankers' treatment of Mar Gaya (another Randy Holden song). It rocks seriously, sports ample power, and screams to be heard. This is a fine track.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is quite a strong track. It is not too melodic, but enough so that it doesn't wear thin or lose your interest. It has plenty of energy, and a lot of really cool effects and affectations via the guitar. Twisted, demented, intense, and solid.
