The Fifth Estate - Ding Dong! The Witch Is Backdotdotdot
artworkDing Dong, The Witch Is Dead! Then again, they recorded a pretty decent Miserlou live to 2 track, and lo and behold, it appears here for the first time ever from a 1964 acetate. The band, called the Demen (dubbed by their label the D-Men) on this track were from Stamford, Connecticut. Nice find.
Picks: Miserlou

Miserlou dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is an energetic, raw, spirited, and edgy version of the Dick Dale classic. The sound is crude due to the source used for the CD. This is mastered from the Fifth Estate's first acetate demo recorded in July 1964. The engineer was Bill Szymczyk, who recorded direct to 2 track. The personnel on this session was Rick Engler (ex-Galaxies surfband) on lead (Jaguar), Bill Schute on rhythm (Epiphone), Doug Ferrara (exChicaynes surfband) on bass, Ken Evans on drums, and Wayne Wadhams on Lowry organ.
