Merrell Fankhauser - Poquito Loquitadotdotdotdotdot
artworkThis is a radio-only promo of a brand new song from surf legend Merrell Fankhauser (Impacts, Exiles), coupled with a track from Rockin' And Surfin' Vol. 4. The title track is perhaps the coolest thing Merrell has recorded in quite a while! It's unpretentious fun, the way pop used to be, and with the innocence of early surf.
Picks: Poquito Loquita, Star Spangled Banner

Poquito Loquita dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is a very cool instro. Its melody lines and rhythms flow with extreme ease. Echoed guitar carries lead with liquid flow and whammy dips. Sax adds juice to the breaks. "Poquito Loquita" is a really cool song. It may be kind of simple, but it's incredibly catchy and rich. It has Barbara Adkins-like laughter, hinting of a liquid "Church Key." This is just plain likable!

Star Spangled Banner dotdotdotdotdot
Surf Rock (Instrumental)

Merrell Fankhauser has done a splendid job with "Star Spangled Banner." It's beautiful, richly toned, and displays great reverence for the subject matter. This is perhaps the prettiest, most endearing cover in rock.
