![]() | The Dialtones issued this single in 1982, with the infectious garage surf-pop vocal "Surfin' In Outer Space" on the A side, and a chunky rhythm dominated surf instro on the B-side. Max Wheatley wrote the very cool A-side "Surfing in Outer Space." The Dialtones released another single, and also did some of the music for some surf videos produced by Brian Gillogoly, one of which was titled "Surf City". The Dialtones consisted of Max Wheatley on drums, Bill Smith on guitar and vocals, Pete Botica on guitar, Chuck Christiansen on bass and John Conine on lead vocals ("Surfing in outer Space"). John left the band sometime around 1982. They continued on as a four piece without a personnel change for over 15 years, expanding into a hybrid surfabilly sound. Chuck left the band, and Max met a beautiful singer named Marcia Paul and formed a tribute to the girl groups called Girltalk. The two guitarists Pete and Bill are now in Elvis Can't Surf. |
