Les Diaboliques - Jackie c/w La Malade Irlandaisedotdotdot
This is a nice instro single with the sound and pop fury of Joe Meek, except it's not his. Not surf, though the a-side does have some elements common in early surf records.
Picks: Jackie, La Malade Irlandaise

Rock (Instrumental)

Muted guitar with echo plays a delightful rhythm pattern that borders on surf as organ carries the lead. When the guitar plays lead, it's clear that this is a European band. There's plenty of spunk here, and the one is compressed-45 rich.

Rock (Instrumental)

"La Malade Irlandaise" is a pop instro in the mold of Joe Meek, both from a sound standpoint and the melody. Clearly intended as a pop rock record, it nonetheless has quite a bit of chunk, and the tremolo guitar is very nice.
