Track by Track Review

Buffalo dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Buffalo" opens with a dynamite version of "Harlem Nocturne" based on the Viscounts killer version, but after one verse, Los Derrumbes launch into a rockin' romp with a great rolling drum beat. High energy fun and cowboy good times!

Black Sand Beach dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Originally from Yuzo Kayama and the Launchers, this is a surfed up and slightly darkened version of "Black Sand Beach" that's sure to please. Liquid, yet garagy in a good way. Rock solid with great drums!

MK-II dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Wonderful whammy chords and a down-on-the-docks feeling, amped with rockin' drums. "MK-II" is a very spunky track with no shortage of energy and fun.

A-Rab dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Jim Messina and the Jesters' relatively obscure "A-Rab" is actually smoothed out here, and richly surfed. Totally cool, and very spirited. The wetness overcomes some of Messina's difficulty with clipping-for-distortion sound.

Outer Limits dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Mike Gordon's "Out Of Limits" (originally titled "Outer Limits") is done with a fairly traditional approach, though it's certainly more direct and "real." Quite nice.

No Tengo Tabla dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"No Tengo Tabla" rocks and pumps like a true frat rocker turned surf. Great glissandos and driving energy.

Viva Las Vegas dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Talk about uplifting bounce. Los Derrumbes pump and grin thru "Viva Las Vegas" as if the are on their way to the slots right now. Great energy and spirit!

Echo Rocket 88 dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is just too fun. A cowboy punk beat, and a cactus melody, up and down glissandos, and lots of spunk. "Echo Rocket 88" has a rockabilly underbelly, but is pure surf above that. Splendid!

La Arana dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Cowboys ride the range in search of the trail to the surf. A splendid instrumental with a very infectious rhythm and soothing rebel rock melody.

The Whip dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Introduced by a sexual sounding whipping, "The Whip" immediately rocks. Incredible drums, a solid riff, and a lot of energy. It catches you immediately and does not let go.
