The Damned - The Shadow Of Lovedotdotdot
artworkYup, even the Damned got into the surf act in the eighties. It came as the extra surprise disc in the gatefold version of the Damned's "The Shadow Of Love" single. The outer sleeve only lists "The Shadow Of Love" and "Nightshift," but the extra single includes "Let The Be Rats" and "Wipe Out.." Rat Scabies wrote the Surfaris inspired tune and the Sandy Nelson tribute.
Picks: Wiped Out, Let There Be Rats

Wiped Out dotdotdotdotdot
Biker Fuzz (Instrumental)

Chris Ashford remixed with everything in the red, and the drums mixed almost all the way into the ambient. Very ugly, very ominous, and monstrous! A stomp with the fuzz box on 11 produced with fingernails on the blackboard in mind. Amazing. This track disproves the rule that lo-fi ruins tracks. This is spectacularly mean.

Let There Be Rats dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Let The Be Rats" is Rat Scabies' Sandy Nelson tribute. It's similar in structure to "Let There Be Drums," and much like "Wiped Out" on the reverse in style.
