The Dakotas - The Cruel Surf c/w The Millionairedotdotdotdot
artworkThis is the US release of The Dakotas' classic instro "The Cruel Sea." This is perhaps the highest profile British attempt at surf from the sixties, and instantly recognizable.

The Cruel Sea dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

A great melody and British view of the surf. While it's not really surf per say, it's one of the best Brit-rock instros of the era. Over time, I've come to like this a lot. It's a ways from the surf idiom, but it's splashy and it's been covered by surf bands a lot.

The Millionaire dotdotdot
Rock (Instrumental)

Fairly typical of soft rock instros of the day, "The Millionaire" is easy on the soul. The melody is lovely, and the performance very strong.
