artworkTake That Train To The Third Eye: Bud Mathis' Sunset Trip 1963 - 1967 presents 14 tracks from various incarnations of Bud Mathis. The vocals are splendid examples of the migration from surf to garage psych, and just how interesting the small bands of the day were back then. Included is the backtrack to the lead track on the disc, which is a fine instro in its own right.

Psych-Surf (Instrumental)

This is more than just a backtrack to the vocal the opens the CD. It stands alone, with watery reverb, dramatic psychedelic go-go sounds, and a fluid feel. Like pre-psychedelic mixed with Captain Beefheart guitaristry and a post surf reverberation. Musta been a great band to see.
