Split: The Space Cossacks vs. The Fathomsdotdotdotdot
artworkThis is a split single featuring two great Eastern bands, each supplying two tracks, one from their new release, and one not. Great artwork, and even better music.
Picks: The Fathoms - Fathomized, Comanche, The Space Cossacks - Red Sunrise, Space Probe

This is the highly rhythmic successor to the "Fathomless" thrown. Very infectious, and very cool. Miles above the pack, magnetic, and sporting power surge glissandos, as well as a growling Steve Douglas-like sax break. Wonderful track.

The Fathoms - Comanche dotdotdotdot

There's something in the water in Boston, something that requires reverb as a treatment. This cover of the revels' classic is just fine. It's not on the new album, so get it here.

The Space Cossacks - Red Sunrise dotdotdotdotdot

With an infectious backtrack and a splendid flying lead, this is a mighty tasty track. The double picked onslaught is strong, the single picked super twang whammy second verse is a perfect counterpoint, and the break is also a cool change, with it's cord dominated chunk. This is a well thought out, well written, finely executed, melodic and highly infectious track. Hot dog!

Another fine tune from one of my current favorite bands. They just seem to do no wrong. This is a very strong cover of the Chantays' tune from their second album. Powerful, finely played, and necessary! Not on their new CD.
