Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA Split: The Penetrators Meet The Space Cossacks

 | Two of America's best non-California surf bands combined to share this wonderful split single. A solid set, and a good addition to your vinyl library. The Penetrators have at least doubled their speed in the last year, and the Space Cossacks have come from a Cowabunga dream to the front of the pack. This is a really good ep. |

The Penetrators - Redlined

Surf (Instrumental)
Hot machine gun pick action and flying guitar fingers mark this exceptional track. My goodness, this totally shred. They musta had their Wheaties the morning this was cut! Blazing fast superfine playing on this surf riff rocker. The writing is really nice, and the performance deluxe. A great track.
The Penetrators - The Truant

Surf (Instrumental)
This progression based ripper (originally recorded by the Truants) features more blinding pick action. It has a chorale feel in spots, as well as a major helping of high energy machine gun delivery.
The Space Cossacks - Neutron Sabre

Surf (Instrumental)
Wow. The lead twangage is intense. The guitar tone owns you. This is as good as "Solaris Stomp." A bit of the Spanish influence, and off-the-scale infectious-ometer readings.
The Space Cossacks - Shark Attack

Surf (Instrumental)
A solid track with great tom-tom action. It features super cool damped and extreme guitar funnery in the break. What a monster! Gotta have it! Can they do no wrong?
