Collection: IGL Roof Garden [Dance Jamboree '66]dotdotdot
artworkThis is a nifty set of mostly unreleased gems by unknowns, legends, and unidentified bands, with a tribute cover of a classic lost release. This 2 CD set is both a nice find and a mystery. Nearly half the CD's tracks are not identified as to the performer or song title because names were missing on the reels' boxes. There are 3 instros, and one lame surf vocal.
Picks: Ebb Tide, Unclaimed, Twelve Bar Blues, Surfin' USA

Track by Track Review

Ebb Tide dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

A slow and reverbed lead guitar rendition of the ancient standard. The song is stylistically clean, and the tonality is pure. It is a sad sounding slow-dance number with a pleasant effect.

Unclaimed dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This untitled instrumental was found on an unlabeled reel in the IGL vaults. It is by an unidentified band. Let's call it "Unclaimed" by the Memory Lapse. It may just be a backtrack to an unfinished vocal. It does have a lead line that is almost surf. The, bridges are more surf than the main melody. It is a surfable and listenable track, though fairly tame.

Twelve Bar Blues dotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This track is an instrumental 12 bar instro, with not much special about it.

Surfin' USA dotdot
Surf (Vocal)

This weak version of the Beach Boys' classic has nothing special about it, other than it's rarity.
