![]() | This comp encompasses a fine slice of small label upper Midwest vintage rockabilly of the Bison Bop variety. All the songs are about the rails, riding them, hopping a freight, hitchin' across the U. S., etc. There are no instros here, but their is one track that makes the whole CD worthwhile for any hard core surf collector. It's not even a surf vocal, and it has no surf references in it. What it does have is the best juxtaposition of surf guitar and trad rockabilly anywhere. It's Johnny Waleen's version of the Phillips/Parker masterpiece "Mystery train." |
