Track by Track Review
America Del Surf - Rebanos de Arroz
Surf Rock (Instrumental)
Weird scenes inside a gold mine... well maybe in an alley where there's a surfboard and a Moped. "Rebanos de Arroz" is an interesting tack that evolves through time. Some great textures and contrasts.
Los Asskickers Enmascarados - Satanic Surfer
"Satanic Surfer" is one heavy dark monster, with a lumbering saturated sound. Its minimalist riff and scary screams make you understand that your intellect will not save you from the terror of the dungeon. Yikes!
The Cosmic Vampires - It Wakes Up In The Atomic Age
Spacy organ gives a slight sci-fi edge to this fast and chunky instro. "It Wakes Up In The Atomic Age" is a pretty cool song with a solid beat and melody line. Dark and a bit dangerous, with swirling keys and no shortage of spunk.
"Krakatoa" is a dark surf instro in a roughly traditional arrangement and style. It sports a huge sound driven by compression, reverb, aggressive energy, and splash. Very cool!
The Foralettes - Young, Gifted And Basque
"Young, Gifted And Basque" is a basic frat rocker with the title shouted here and there. Frankly, it's not very interesting, though it sure is spunky. If you're drunk at a frat party, you probably will like this a lot.
Jason And The Retronauts (featuring Alicia Morticia) - Fatman
This is a cheesy version of Neil Hefty's TV theme with faux dialog inserted. It's pumping with intense energy, but it's still just a riff rocker.
Los Jets - A Fist Full Of Dollars
Another Enio Morrecone song, played fast and with seriously effected guitar. The drums are really the main attraction, though the seventies guitar styling is very effective.
The Longboards - Downhill
Wow, this really drives hard. The swirling organ adds a weird sense of liquid danger to the spitting glissandos and raging drums. Deep bass and lots of reverb complete the picture. Very heavy!
Lunik romps this rockabilly instro with reverb and a grin. The energy is its main feature, enhanced by a few manic glissandos and a cool lead line. Quite a tasty track.
Mistery Man - Rockin' In Rabat
Spaghetti Western (Instrumental)
A catchy cowboy beat drives this way fun track down the trail. It's delicate at times, frivolous at others, and always durable. This is a thoroughly cool track with an endearing sound and style.
Los Sfinters - El Domador De Palos Contra El Hombre Lobo
This is a splashy and dark number with a slid riff and aggressive double picking. Its loud production values add intensity. Great drums and lots of energy here!
Los Twangs - Black Is Twang
Los Bravos' catchy hit "Black Is Black" is an excellent choice to cover. Its melody is memorable and upbeat, and its energy solid. Los Twangs give it flair, long chords, and a really personable sound. Very cool!
Los Wrayajos - La Danza Del Taladro (A Letter To Dick Dale)
Just what you might imagine, "La Danza Del Taladro (A Letter To Dick Dale)" is aimed at the Dickster with his modern style of guitar attack. The melody is original, and the delicate second guitar pattern is very cool. Bass, drums, and guitars combine with great ease into a very cool track.
