Split: Go Surf with The Bradipos IV vs. Gli Scriteriatidotdotdot
artworkThis split ep captures two Italian surf bands. The Bradipos IV are trashy and splashy, while Gli Scriteriati are more trad Italian and surfy. Both are solid bands captured in marginal fidelity, and both play with real feeling and energy.
Picks: The Bradipos IV - Trash-Parade, Gunsville, Gli Scriteriati - Surf Inferno, Il Clan Dei Siciliani

Track by Track Review

The Bradipos IV - Trash-Parade dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Trash-Parade" employs a solid riff played on the high-E, creating a thin ringing lead sound, backed by damped rhythm guitar and surf drums, and accented with swimming whammy and very cool vibes. A good song.

The Bradipos IV - Gunsville dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Gunsville" is an infectious rhythm track, with a haunting lead melody that displays a "Holiday Inn Spain" (Ray Beats) feel. Big whammy chords support the melody. Tasty track.

Gli Scriteriati - Surf Inferno dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Surf Inferno" sports excellent surf chunk and driving drums. The main riff is born of Los Straitjackets and the Crossfires on the high-E. It's many false stops are cool, and the infectious melody keeps you hooked.

Gli Scriteriati - Il Clan Dei Siciliani dotdotdotdot
Mafiosi Surf (Instrumental)

"Il Clan Dei Siciliani" is an excellent sad tune, with a gangster melody played slowly and expertly. It drips mob meetings in pizza parlors with molls hanging on every hood's arm. This slow tune uses a single note melody on the left and Italian double picked melody on the right, bringing that traditional Italian sound into focus. This is an excellent track!
