Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA Collection: Fiesta Exotica
|I think to summarize this collection, these are very similar bands all recorded in low quality sound, with overplaying and under arranging.|
Picks: Los Carburadores - Intro
Track by Track Review
"Intro" wants to be "Wipe Out," but lacks the flair and flow. There some interesting ideas here, but it seems underdeveloped and over played. That said, it's well suited to a stormy day on ugly surf.
Skualos Surf Power Trio - Indio Pistolero
Heavy, dark fuzz grunge at a lumbering pace. "Indio Pistolero" is decidedly rock, and only forty-two seconds long.
Skualos Surf Power Trio - Chocota Beach
Long sustain and tribal drums, with a cycling pattern on guitar. "Chocota Beach" has some psychedelic elements, but is mostly rock instro. It's main detraction is it's tone sameness and unchanging octave.
Los Vibradores - El Intrascendente Momento En Que El Hedonista Penso En Rehacer Su Vida Y Luego Se Arrepintio
Punk Surf (Instrumental)
Brutally fuzz drenched, with low brow sound and flying guitar lines. Punks wanna surf, double pick their safety pins off, and generally pull of a punk surf kind of thing.
Los Vibradores - Entre Coagulos De Sangre Y Gritos Desgarradores Nace La Guagua De La Mujer Gallina
Brooding wanna be Link Wray punk surf with extreme distortion and intense compression. Double picking against a lumbering rhythm track in lo-fi sound.
