Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA Collection: Brasil Instro/Surf Vol. 1

 | Four diverse Brazilian bands with one song each on this hot little seven-inch ep. Great stuff well worth exploring. Three os these bands have graced reverb Central for a while with their excellent recordings. Psicotropicos De-Luxe remains highly illusive. I'd love to hear their albums. |
Picks: Autoramas - Multiball, The Dead Rocks - Crash Crash Crash Again, Psicotropicos Deluxe - O Monstro De 1000 Olhos, Super Stereo Surf - Fuga das Galinhas
Track by Track Review
Surf (Instrumental)
The dark yet poppy sound of Autoramas is expressed through a circling melody riff in various textures, some disturbed, some more normal. Its a very unusual song with a mix employing some "remix" techniques. Very cool!
The Dead Rocks - Crash Crash Crash Again

Heavy Surf (Instrumental)
"Crash" is intense and yet restrained somehow. Great drums and stop-start energy, intensely relentless. Harsh double picked guitar shimmers with edge. Did I mention the drums here? Superb!
Psicotropicos Deluxe - O Monstro De 1000 Olhos

Surf (Instrumental)
Psicotropicos Deluxe are a diverse sounding band with one foot in punk and one where ever it lands. This is a unique track with character and edge, and significant chemistry. Imaginative.
Super Stereo Surf - Fuga das Galinhas

Surf (Instrumental)
Smooth and warm in some ways, this track paints a picture of unscripted tropical adventure in baggies. "Fuga das Galinhas" is a light summery track with an engaging melody and solid surf rhythm.
