Track by Track Review
Surf (Instrumental)
What a great track! melodic and very surfy, with a sparkling optimism and wonderful dribbling glissandos. Muted reverbed lines, string-bent attitude, and lots of upbeat energy!
Surf (Instrumental)
"Hybrid Moments" is about the rhythm, but also about the softly moody melody line. Solid listenable surf with a garage edge, and a foggy morning vision.
Surf (Instrumental)
Dueling lead notes, sparkling upbeat drive, and great tone deliver the surf goods with a wintery flavor. I'm not sure why, but "Fastro Zombies" just feels like December. A very catchy track!
Surf (Instrumental)
"Archangel" is a somewhat dark track with a stomp and frat kind of backtrack, while the melody is a little sad and yet inviting. This takes a while to grow on you, but once it does, it suggest a new day on a coastal highway before the Sunday drivers slow your progress. You can smell the fog and feel the wind in your hair.
Surf (Instrumental)
Speedy and pumped with surfable energy, "I Turned Into A Martian" becomes quite a diggable track at the hands of the Crimson Ghosts, who make Glen Danzig's penmanship sing. Chunky and very fun!
Surf (Instrumental)
With an almost poppy melody, and some very nice surfisms on guitar, "American Nightmare" shows an guarded optimism, right down to the handclaps. Spiffy and fun.
Surf (Instrumental)
Opening with Link Wray-ish chords drama, "Halloween" quickly becomes a surf rush with power and curl riding splash. Totally cool!
Surf (Instrumental)
With a bit of surf uplifting spirit added to the downward spiral of "Some Kinda Hate," it becomes an entirely new creature. It's a bit sad, yet not a downer at all. Way cool!
Surf (Instrumental)
Using the intro and rhythm pattern to "Pipeline" and Glen Danzig's melody, "Hollywood Babylon" is instantly engaging and moody in the way that only surf instros can be. A variant of the break from "Pipeline" completes the metamorphosis! Grand!
Surf (Instrumental)
With fun and punky energy, along with the fluidity of the reverb, "Ghouls Night Out" is an interesting combination of elements. Nicely transmuted.
Surf (Instrumental)
"Skulls" is a splashy and slightly mean track with an aggressive backtrack and moody and leisurely lead line. It's both invigorating and soothing.
Surf (Instrumental)
Great drums and contrast between the chords' drama and the grin of the melody. Tribal and promising better days, "Where Eagles Dare" soars as the title suggests with the kind of shimmer and tribal beat only surf can muster!
Surf (Instrumental)
An almost military drama and sullen mood, driven by a busy backtrack and fronted by sad tone and shoe-gazzer self doubt. That said, it really works well for this song.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is a totally upbeat surf instro with sparkling optimism and tribal rhythms. Great drums, moody bass, and very engaging guitar melody and glissandos. "Angelfuck" is a thoroughly enjoyable track.
Surf (Instrumental)
With a stormy island visual thing going on, tribal drums that rock, guitar drama that's a bit of surf tragedy and a bit of dominating towering curl, "She" rocks and romps with charm and powerful intensity.
Surf (Instrumental)
"Astro Zombies" is a bright and very cool instro with rich textures and arranging. Lovely and yet rock-edged, it has a breezy lagoon imagery that suggest a bit of danger.
Surf (Instrumental)
Happy in a pop-rock kind of way, aggressive in a surf groove, and upbeat. "Last Caress" is not very romantic, but it's very enjoyable.
