The Coolies - Digdotdotdotdot
artworkThis 1986 release finds the Coolies doing post punk eighties rock covers of a ton of sappy Simon & Garfunkle hits, like Scarborough Fair, Having My Baby, and I Am A Rock. It's totally cool. I was surprised at how well this has stood the test of time. Among the best tracks here is a fine surf instro version of Mrs. Robinson. The bands was from Atlanta, Georgia.

Surf (Instrumental)

This cover of the Alan Tousaint tune made popular by Al Hirt is surprisingly fun in the surf meets the Tijuana Brass variation heard here. The sax honks are priceless, and the childlike innocence of the performance is quite endearing.
