artworkThis is a project of Rick Escobar, ex-guiding light of one of modern surf's most revered bands, the Woodies. The music here is like a cross between the Mermen and a tribal robot world. Psychedelic swirl-headed insanity mixed with the wondrous howl of feedback. Death Ride 69 meets the Mermen wake surfing on the Amazon.
Picks: Bash, Mrs. Webber, Rick 'n' Roll, Wackadoo

Track by Track Review

Bash dotdotdotdotdot
Tribal Psychedelic Surf (Instrumental)

Great percussion a la Death Ride 69 and howling guitar mind alerts. electro tweaking sludge, and utterly eerie long decay. Like a distant howl heard across the moors, "Bash" instills fear to the core.

Mrs. Webber dotdotdotdot
Tribal Psychedelic (Instrumental)

The lady of the bar-b-que has a migraine brought on by exonerated echo and long strolling nights. Spooky and fluid, in a modern vein. Minor references to the darker side of the Scorpions sludged down.

Rick 'n' Roll dotdotdotdot
Tribal Psychedelic (Instrumental)

If the Amboy Dukes had cut "Journey To The Center Of Your Mind" in the late nineties instead of the late sixties, they might well have sounded like this. Long sustain, burgeoning feedback, a fluid robot beat, and lots of eerie echo. Quite cool!

Wackadoo dotdotdot
Tribal Psychedelic (Instrumental)

This is an almost Shaft-like jam in the key of intrigue. Moods in dark blue, long sustain, soft howling... "Wackadoo" is neither wacky nor doo doo.
