The Cave 4 - S/Tdotdotdot
artworkthe Cave 4 blend fuzz and vibratoed surf guitar is really effective, and somewhat similar to what Planet Seven are doing today. Rudi Protrudi surfage, in a bit fuzzy sort garage approach. Wonderfully grodie sounds.
Picks: Birdwalk [Surf Bird], Gyro Spazz, High Wall, K-39

Who'da thunk it. The weirdly peculiar Kai Winding / Kenny Burrell track from the More (Mondo Cane) album can actually be done well, with some angst and an interesting arrangement. Grindy, melodic, suavely edgie, and devoid of the stupid sound tricks of the original, replaced by trumpet buried suitably in the mix.

Gyro Spazz dotdotdot
Garage Surf (Instrumental)

A cruddy recording of a rowdie and primitive performance of the middle eastern pop song that fast became the signature of the surf world when Dick Dale pulverized it. The sound is marginal, and musically sloppy, but the band has that frat band energy and attack.

High Wall dotdotdot
Surf Biker Fuzz (Instrumental)

German garage band, fuzzy, raw garagie good fun cover of the Wailers ancient number.

K-39 dotdotdot
Fuzz Surf (Instrumental)

The Challengers' 1965 classico deluxe, played grungily without losing the melodic drive. The rolling drums and double picked lead guitar are pretty cool, which the grungy backtrack relentless plunders onward. The buried trumpet adds a haunted suavity. Cool track.
