Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA The Cavaliers - The Cavaliers
|This is a raucous garage surf album of tuff instros and a couple of vocals, including a very cool cover of The Trashmen's "King Of The Surf." I read a couple of loose references to The Wangs, suggesting that The Cavaliers are their decedents. I don't know about that for sure. Check these guys out!|

Track by Track Review
Les Cavaliers De l'Apocalypse Sont Des Surfeurs
Muted dark surf guitar, a catchy riff, buzzing glissandos, and rippin' surf jam energy. "Les Cavaliers De l'Apocalypse Sont Des Surfeurs" ("Riders Of The Apocalypse Are Surfers") is intense and powerful.
This is a very cool track. Fiery, spunky, with a catchy riff, and great tone. "La Vague De La Soif" ("The Wave Of Thirst") is a stompin' track with serious surf party ethics.
Les Planchistes De Paname
Undulating mid tempo whammy dip, a muted rhythm pattern and a cool little melody riff. "Les Planchistes De Paname" is rather garagy. The melody is fun, the drums are stomping cool right out of "Let's Go," but much more tribal and raucous, and the guitars playful and rich. Very fun!
"Flying Boat Twist" is a romping riff rocker with big splash and energy, and a very loud sound. It's way more about energy than style, though there's a Spanish flavored melody line that's very good.
"Menace Sur La Cote" is a loud attack on another dimension, with flying double picker guitar and big thrashy reverb chords. Great drums and bass here. Too cool!
Le Ride Du Jugement Dernier
"The Ride Of Last Judgment" is dramatic and very cool, with splendid glissandos and an undulating beat. Splashy, intense, and dramatic, but also tribal and exotic.
Bons Baisers De La Ville Lumiere
"Bons Baisers De La Ville Lumiere" has a very cool melody, and a ton of energy. This is loud garage surf at its intense best. Flying notes, great drums and bass, and a soft break that's very cool to break the overwhelm of the energy. Excellent!
Le Veme Cavalier (Featuring Philippe Almosnino)
"Le Veme Cavalier (Featuring Philippe Almosnino)" is a rockabilly blast. It's raw and aggressive and sports a couple of tuff glissandos. The break is a cooled down respite, but the song never loses its momentum.
