Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA Os Carburadores - Os Carburadores
|Half of the eight tracks on this release are instros. I'd classify this as a demo because the band's chemistry hasn't quite gelled, and the arrangements are just shy of fleshed out, but this sure does have promise! |
Picks: Os Carburadores, Mutacao, Fora Aliens
Track by Track Review
This is a garagy exercise in whammy chords and primitive splash. The drums sometimes capture attention, and the glissandos are trashy and charming. "Os Carburadores" is an adventurous song almost carried off... almost because it seems they are on the verge of chemistry, but not quite there yet.
Wow, this is cool. Sultry opening, stinging whammy chords, and a dark melody with Spanish flair. Long glissandos and a compelling arrangement are only restricted by undeveloped recording techniques. This is truly a monster in training.
Drama and slither cohabit this song. It's demented and disturbed, and bordering on cool. I like the long glissandos.
"Fora Aliens" is based in The Rumblers' "Boss," but morphed significantly once it reaches the melody lines, which are pretty jammy. Tribal drums and dark imagery.
