The Edgar Broughton Band - S/Tdotdotdotdot
artworkBreaking the rule - sorta... there's isn't an instro here, but the magical use of "Apache" between verses of Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band's "Drop Out Boogie" demands a mention somewhere in surfdom. The Edgar Broughton Band were festival faves in the UK, with their chant deluxe "Out Demons Out" topping the sing-along list in every VW bus in merry olde England.

Apache Drop Out dotdotdotdotdot
Garage Surf (Vocal)

Here we have the most magical use of Jerry Lordan's classic "Apache" as a verse bumper within Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band's "Drop Out Boogie." The combination is utterly irresistible. This 1970 Harvest Records single (HAR 6032) A-side quickly became something of a cult fave. The value here is the superb performance of "Apache," using the Shadows' arrangement with some elements of the Jorgen Ingman track as well. The performance of "Apache" could be digitally excised from the rest of the track, yielding an deluxe instro. Extra swell!
