Mark Brodie and the Saboteurs - Tiger Rock c/w Secret Service / Our Man Flintdotdotdotdot
artworkThis is not exactly Mark's band from Japan, though the name is the same. These tracks were cut after Mark returned, with some friends from the Canadian scene. It's much different than the Japanese band, fuller and more surfy. The theme here is spy, but the sound is aquatic.
Picks: T.I.G.E.R. Rock, Secret Service, Our Man Flint

Track by Track Review

T.I.G.E.R. Rock dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is a wonderful track, slow and single picked. Mark Brodie's surf guitar tone is readily recognizable. The rhythm guitar is dry. It's a melodic surf riff, infectious and warm. It has clear spy sensibilities. Excellent.

Secret Service dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Similar in style to "T.I.G.E.R. Rock," this tune is more spy thematic, with a simpler single picked riff. It's slow and sad, or slightly dangerous, with full round tone.

Our Man Flint dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

A moderately interesting cover of the espionage flick, with Mark's tone, but nothing else to set it apart.
