The Boardwalkers - Bikini Drag / The Brave New World / Hip Codedotdotdot
artworkThe Boardwalkers have been around for a long time, mostly avoiding being well captured on tape. Several singles, and a KXLU live show is about all there is. Their sound is very trad, and quite infectious.
Picks: Bikini Drag, This Brave New World, Hip Code

Track by Track Review

Bikini Drag dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

All of the recordings this LA band made are of lo technical quality, ambient lo fi. Their performances, on the other hand, are generally really good. This was a single, and is a great track.

This Brave New World dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is a poundy and very cool trad surf ditty. It's grodie, ominous, and pretty darn mean, with great tribal drums, and rumbling bass. Fine arranging, boys.

Hip Code dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Rhythmic, bass chunked, and playfully written. This seems to use influences from "Music To Watch The Girls By," as well as new melody elements. It's infectious and immediate.
