Surf (Instrumental)
"Beach Hanging" is a gentle track that's really easy to like. Happy, sunny afternoon while the surf's flat, umbrella drink relaxed. Its melody is a lot like The Association's "Wendy."
Surf (Instrumental)
Gently ringing guitar provides a lovely backdrop for the tremolo edged guitar playing the slow melody. The break here has its own melody line. Evolving into a cycling progression born of bluesy rock, "Dark Knight" returns to the lovely melody and delicate delivery of the main theme. Quite nice.
Surf (Instrumental)
Bubbling water effects open this partially muted guitar melody. The song is gentle and relaxing, with a very easy feeling. It's an afternoon break from the grueling curl. If you close your eyes, you see vintage footage of an endless summer in the sun, shot in black and white.
Surf (Instrumental)
The ocean gently laps at the sand, the drums beat out a tribal pattern, and the guitar and bass sync on a cool progression. In some ways, "Surfomaniac" is mathematical and dangerous, while still lulling you into the cove. The muted glissandos and reverb near the end are superb!
Surf (Instrumental)
"Tough Cookie" presents a rock format instro with beach imagery and a playful sound. Edge, gentility, and a catchy progression suggest coastal dunes. The up-glissando and whammy chords call up the curl. Very cool!
