The Bitch Boys - Promo CDdotdotdotdot
artworkI am assuming this is follows the other CD. It's better produced, with a little less reverb, and a tighter feel. It also includes six track live from the FV Music Festival and a rocking jam of "Everybody Up" and "Jet Stream."

Track by Track Review

Surfin' Tide dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

A slow surf tide pool opener with long leaning bass notes and delayed stereo guitar quickly yields to an infectious and rhythmic tune with a fine melody and really warm feel. Fine double picking and tuff glissandoes abound.

Suez Canal Affair dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Cautious feedback shimmers and slithers across a sunset waterway. In the distance, fins and feminine forms... this is a really good track, with a pretty melody and very nice production. The midsection is a faster more rock thing with a strong rhythm that yields back to surf with a different feel. Excellent!

Stalkin' Mermaid dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Fast and fun, with speedy double picked leads on high registers over a playful rhythm track. Sunny topdown drive music. Excellent.

David's Quest dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"David's Quest" flies along at a fast clip with no worries. All is bright and beautiful in the future when you listen to this infectious track.

Sale's Melioration dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Apache" drums and a melody very similar to Richie Podolor's "Quiet Surf." This may borrow from other works, but it's very good. Pretty and dramatic, tribal and ringing with wet guitar work. The fresh production makes this irresistible!

(On The Road With) Wave Chasers dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Big and crunchy, raucous and edgy, "(On The Road With) Wave Chasers" drives harder than most here, yet has less power due to a weaker melody. It's much more a fifties rocked updated kinda track than surf, despite its thundering drums and glissandoes. Lots of piss and vinegar here.

Bitch Stomp dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Playing with fire, the boys launch into a raunchy riff fest, with the two guitars battling it out for dominance. A bit chaotic, but also pretty fun.

Gargamel S.T. dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Gargamel Slaci Tangice" uses surf as a platform to laugh and sparkle from. This fine track is happy and playful, and sports fine dribbling double picked leads and glissandoes, plus a pick slide or two for extra zip. Just plain fun.

Roadracer dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

The bass line from "Cadillac" rumbles under a rhythmic vibrato infected riff rocker. The track works well, especially when the middle eastern melody arrives. It becomes infectious and friendly, and a fine example of tribal surf. This is a lot crunchier than the earlier version.

Wet Bikini dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Aggressive and playful, "Wet Bikini" races and dances on tubular sunshine. Highly original, and maybe a little like the Evasions on double time.

Blejski Wenc'k dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is a fine performance in the Super Stock's mold, but with creative license taken. Glissandoes pan across your consciousness. Rhythmic and pretty, and quite enjoyable. The guitar break is right outta "Cadillac," and is somehow quite appropriate. Infectious and fun. This time out, the song fades in slowly and is tougher.

Amor dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Amor" is a big guitar rhythm driven song in an Aqua Velvets 's vein. Highly enjoyable and very cool.

Revenge Of The Amor dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Damped reverbed surf, double picked dribbles, and shimmering vibrato. "Revenge Of The Amor" is very friendly, with warm tone and a fun beat. Double picking delicately plays out a sunny dusk as long tubes roll past the point. Very good!

Paint It Black dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

The Rolling Stones' "Paint It Black" starts with a shimmering opener, and moves to a double picked power train delivery. Lots of fun here, with a really nice addition of a classical riff mid stream... way too cool.

Skawboy dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

A delicately damp-picked intro gives way to a spaghetti western style melody over a near ska rhythm that gradually goes faster and faster until double picking and glissandoes take over, transitioning into an almost Cossack sound. Very interesting and cool.

Theme From Otpisani dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Ringing surf, rolling rhythms, sparkling tones, and a happy melody dance from your monitors as you dig "Theme From Otpisani." Occasionally thundering tom toms add a sense of drama, followed by fluid glissandoes. Infectious and enduring, and much more dramatic than the earlier version.

Everybody Up / Jet Stream (Take 1) dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Ska at full force, the Fender IV's "Everybody Up" launches from the pad like a Saturn V on its way to Mars. Fiery lead guitar and a little too much rhythm, but still damn fiery. Then comes a raging presentation of the Breakers' "Jet Stream," with screaming running scared people as the attack ensues. While essentially a demo recording, this is also pretty hot.

Hungarian Dance No. 5 dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Brahms' "Hungarian Rhapsody" is grinningly fired off like there's no tomorrow, with clean melody lines and dribbling guitar. Darn fine track, with lots summer surf sparkle.

Wet Bikini dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This performance is live from FV Music Festival. Like the studio tracks, it's aggressive and playful, and races on tubular sunshine. Great stuff.

Stalkin' Mermaid dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Again live from FV Music Festival, the Bitch Boys romp through "Stalkin' Mermaid" with speed and edge, firing off double picked leads on high registers over a playful rhythm track. Hot track!

Amor dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Spiffy and playful, "Amor" is rhythm driven in an Austin kinda way, like an Aqua Velvets speedster. Highly enjoyable and very cool. Recorded live at FV Music Festival.

Gargamel S.T. dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Gargamel Slaci Tangice" is live from FV Music Festival. It laughs and sparkles. Happy and playful, sporting an excellent dribbling double picked lead and glissandoes. Very cool!

Very good!
