The Bel-Aires - Liverpool c/w The Intruderdotdotdotdot
artworkThis is the other post-Paul Johnson single from The Belairs renamed The Bel-Aires. The high tension energy is gone, and the a-side is just so so, and not at all surf. The b-side, on the other hand, is just superb!
Picks: The Intruder

Track by Track Review

Liverpool dotdotdot
Rock (Instrumental)

Post-surf instro with a bluesy progression and harmonica. Might be a twelve string. Gone is the vital melodies and rhythms this band was so famous for. An obvious attempt to connect with the British Invasion.

The Intruder dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

The Ventures' cool little number "The Intruder" is done with surf creds still in tact. A bit of reverb, and that splendid arranging that The Bel-Aires/The Belairs were so famous for. Excellent drums, and both guitars are really well played. The bass is right in the pocket.
