The Beautiful Kantine Band - Rock 'n' Roll Hat Unserem Leben Einen Neuen Sinn Gegebendotdotdotdot
artworkThis is a fine CD of German pop-rock songs, augmented very well by four fine instrumentals that reference surf in the feeling of the music. There may only be four instros here, but it's well worth seeking out.
Picks: Astronaut Auf Kurs, Red River Rock, Von Hier Nach Dort, Massimba Cortez

Track by Track Review

Astronaut Auf Kurs dotdotdotdot
Rock (Instrumental)

"Astronaut Auf Kurs" is nicely written and arranged. The melody line invites you in, and the structure is rhythmic and engaging. While the lead guitar is buried mercilessly in the mix, the song is a very inviting and sunny instrumental that stays with you. Only the production values keep it from being 5 stars.

Red River Rock dotdotdot
Rock (Instrumental)

This is a rhythmically driven guitar cover of Johnny and the Hurricanes' "Red River Rock," which is "Red River Valley" rocked out for organ. This is moderately paced and not particularly energy driven, yet has an engaging sound only limited by the lead guitar's low level.

Von Hier Nach Dort dotdotdotdot
Rock (Instrumental)

"Von Hier Nach Dort" is a light instro with cool melody and fun semi-ska rhythm. The warmth and grin of the song overrides the slight sadness in the melody. Very nice track!

Massimba Cortez dotdotdot
Rock (Instrumental)

Hand claps and a frothy rhythm support a soft drive along a coastline where the sea laps the rocks below and the rain is still in the rear view mirror. Optimism on the horizon, trouble fading away behind. "Massimba Cortez" is a very cool song.
