The Beach Toys - 'Live' from Manhattan Beachdotdot
artworkSurely a fairgrounds review kind of set, the Beach Toys are a Beach Boys' tribute band with the sound down pretty well. Not as tight and spirited as Papa Doo Run Run, but in the same general vicinity.
Picks: Let's Go Trippin', Miserlou

Let's Go Trippin' dotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is a fairly light weight version of Dick Dale and his Del-tones' first instro "Let's Go Trippin'." It's well played and very traditional, but the energy is on the thin side.

Miserlou dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Bob Moore's lead work on "Miserlou" is just as stilted as Carl Wilson's was. The Beach Boys' instros were always on the not-too-well-metered side, and always fairly light weight. This continues the tradition, though it is quite listenable for a lower energy presentation. The arrangement is pretty close to the Beach Boy's take.
