Track by Track Review

Slaughter Beach dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

The sea washed the shore before "Slaughter Beach" appears on the horizon. It's a moody song with a moderately aggressive delivery. The sound and melody are very comfortable, with an updated traditional sound and gate. Great whammy chords and sparkling guitar.

Souixnami dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Vibrato and ringing guitar play a spaghetti western-ish song with an endearing melody line and inviting rhythm. "Souixnami" is a splendid track that will bring you back again and again. Multi-textured, exceptional multi-guitar arranging, and a solid rhythm section. I like this a lot.

Toxic Train dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Toxic Train" a motion oriented rhythm that's great for a coastal drive. Optimistic and very spunky, this is a very California sounding song. Excellent!

Dead Sea Stroll dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is a hauntingly cool song with an island mystique and warmth. An alluring whammy warmth calls to the soul in a carefree mode that's just a little sad. "Dead Sea Stroll" is not the Steve Soest song of the same name.

Planet From Outer Space dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Theremin warbles, tom toms rumble, and the low-E double picked intro sets the stage for a dangerous ride. Eerie and dark, full of danger and spirit, "Planet From Outer Space" is a fine track with plenty to hold your attention.

Sizzler dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

There's a warm sunny sense of adventure here, with a very attractive beat and melody. The sound is compelling, as is the arrangement. Very nice! Since "Sizzler" doesn't seem to link to food, I expect it's named for a hot day rather than the steak house chain.

Beach Blanket Inferno dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

With introductory chords inspired by "Moovin' and Groovin'," this song romps with optimism and energy. The uplifting melody line is playful and warm, and the island whammy suitably inviting. "Beach Blanket Inferno" is an excellent track.

Kid Of Speed dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Driving drums and raging guitars fly along the roadway with no sense of limits. "Kid Of Speed" is simply exhilarating, and the melody has a Mediterranean feel at times. Wonderful.

Wild Wild Midwest dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

With shimmering vibrato, the guitar gently paints a picture of wide expanses and waves of grain. Beautiful, engaging, and lush, with a fine melody and wonderful playing.

Axis Of Evil dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Surf and twang ride above a relentless bed of writhing rhythm. "Axis of Evil" is an oddly attractive song that's not melodic really, but is nonetheless magnetic. Kinda spaghetti, open road adventurous, and very mysterious. It ends with a series if reverb crashes before the final chords.

Whole Larva Love dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

The rhythm guitar shimmers with vibrato, and the lead guitar has a distant reverbed sound. A bit of drama, but mostly "Whole Larva Love" is a pretty song with a picturesque sound.

Are You Lonesome Tonight? dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Opening as if "Walk Don't Run" was imminent, the song instantly brings on a grin. Faster than the Elvis Presley hit, and sparkling with enthusiasm, this arrangement is nothing short of magical.

Pope Of Chile Town dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Pope Of Chile Town" is a very fun track that's fast and spunky. Warm, fluid, and very cool. It has a limitless sense of forward motion and rolling swells. Wonderful.

Mr. Exterminator dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Not at all like "Mr. Eliminator," this is a fast and shimmering track with great drums and bass and lots of fine guitar work. Totally infectious and thoroughly enjoyable. This is perfect for a drive on an open coastal highway. Simply wonderful!

Dreamsicle dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

The sounds of the shore, seagulls, kids in the distance, tropical drums and soft chords... "Dreamsicle" is a slushy afternoon breeze of relaxation and shimmering sands.
