Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA The Arousers - Do The Arousal

 | Four instrumentals in mono, produced to simulate vintage sounds. It's pretty close to that. Two of the songs are frat rock, two surf. |
Picks: Squad Car, Arousal
Track by Track Review
Friction
Surf (Instrumental)
A nasty sax dominated fifties style instro with surf guitar buried somewhere in the back. Big squonk.
Surf (Instrumental)
the sax reed presents the siren as the drums and bass present "Squad Car" very much between The Belairs and Eddie and the Showmen. Very nice vintage sounding version.
Surf (Instrumental)
A solid reverb crash launches "Arousal." The song is more than riffs, and employs nasty sax. Solid surf with an eye on days gone by, thought it's more about thunder than melody.
The Hunch
Frat (Instrumental)
Aside from the up glissandos, "The Hunch" is pretty much just a frat rocker. It's a cover of Mad Mike and the Maniacs' song with tuff drums.
