Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA Aqua Vista - The Gentleman Racer Limited Edition Mini LP

 | This 7 inch album is a reduction of Aqua Vista's great Gentleman Racer CD. It sports big reverb, solid tune choices, and tons of energy delivered with thrashy abandon. This is easily the heaviest 7 inch record I've ever picked up... must weigh a pound! Well, almost. |
Picks: Surf Party, Down Shiftin', Armadillo Races, Slim Side, Rapido-A-GoGo, Gravel Rash, Torque Induction, Surf Creature
Track by Track Review
Surf (Instrumental)
A rock solid cover of Astronauts' "Surf Party" slams home the racing waves of trad surf. This magnificent tune is given the raging treatment, and as in nearly every cover of it, ends up being a powerhouse track. On CD, the lads called it "AC Cobra."
Surf (Instrumental)
Similar to an obscuro which alludes me at the moment, this mighty sporty track oozes coolness and power. Big thrashy power and melodic as well.
Surf (Instrumental)
Big riff twang, and under 30 seconds long. Guess those armadillos only sprint.
Surf (Instrumental)
This Link Wray tune is given the reverb murk treatment, and comes out in a shimmering slosh of surf and back alley danger. Very cool.
Power Thrash Surf (Instrumental)
Beware title tracks... but not this time. Power punched amp wrangling surf thrash with an insane drive.
Surf (Instrumental)
Surf riff driven, reverb murked, and hard charging, with a catastrophic end.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is an early Phantom Surfer's tune, trashed out and made even murkier... really, and it works really well. Geez, what a surf noise!
Surf (Instrumental)
This is Bob Hafner's "Surf Creature," powered up and murked out. Big and fast, and sludgy. Dangerous and fast.
