Smells Like Teen Spirit dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Curt Cobain's pimple girl classic is stripped of its underarm lyrics and morphed into a modern instro classic. Where the Bikini Beach band treated it as a humorous interlude coupled with "Gimme Gimme Gimme" on their Leave Home CD, the AV's make it over into a dramatic and liquid adventure in the power of melody and guitar delivered with abandon. Totally cool!

Baja dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Lee Hazelwood's durable melody is brought to life in a pure trad form, softer and more refined than the Astronauts' hit, but not at all sludgy like the Al Casey version. Pure reverb surf, with amazing precision and ringing tone. As marvelous as the Aqua Velvets are, it is their live performances and occasional surf side side trips that really show how amazing they are as musicians.

Spanish Blue dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Miles Corbin' delicate guitar work is shown off in a thrillingly liquid performance of his "Spanish Blue." This song is a marvel of writing, and very time I hear these lads do this, I get chills. Gorgeous!

Green Sunshine dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Easily my fave Aqua Velvets original, this fine performance continues the liquid musical adventure. This is an amazing track with the wah-wah from the studio session retained for a more Fillmore sound. "Green Sunshine" is an epic of psychedelic surf, green waters with the sun dancing off the reflected ripples, sunsets in the West, hippie dreams of surf and sand, drama and longboards. The Grateful Dead tribute section continues to bring shivers.
