The Animated Egg - A Love Built On Sand c/w Sock It My Waydotdotdotdot
artworkThis is the only single (as far as I know) from the Allshire project band The Animated Egg, with Jerry Cole among others in full psych regalia. Completely bananas, with reverb, tremolo, and fuzz. Not surf, but about as good as exploito-psych gets, and Cole was, after all, on hand for many studio sessions during the surf era. From these sessions also came The Mindexpanders, The Black Diamonds, and 101 Strings.
Picks: A Love Built On Sand, Sock It My Way

A Love Built On Sand dotdotdot
Psychedelic Surf 'n Swirl (Instrumental)

"A Love Built On Sand" is kind of a psychedelic jam in the studio sense, but with Jerry Cole's guitar fuzz tone much like Kris Larson (Indian Puddin' N' Pipe) achieved, and right in line with the 101 Strings acid sessions. A bit of go-go/discotheque beneath a psychedelic swirl.

Psychedelic Surf 'n Swirl (Instrumental)

"Sock It My Way" is a vibrato distorto wonderama, a real deluxe psych find. It's thick and ultra edgy, hypnotic and nerve rendering. The whistling Moog adds to the uneasy soundscape. While it's a very different mix of "Flameout," it's still frighteningly psychedelic. Gawd!
