The AmpFibians - Spies In Lovedotdotdotdot
artworkSpies In Love is a fine set of songs from The AmpFibians, particularly the final track "Surf A Roma." Well worth checking out!

String Ray dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

A raw glissando over drums rasps at the shore line to open a post modern "Pipeline"-esq backtrack fronted by dark melody backed in dry tone. "String Ray" begins by attracting your attention, and then keeps it throughout. Grumbling rumble with jagged rocks ahead.

Spanish Gold dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Spanish Gold Live" sports a very original melody line and rhythm track. It's warm with interesting changes and very cool drums. Some double picked lines, a glissando or two, and lots of whammy. Verging on delicate, but definitely not restrained.

Spies In Love dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Slow and lush in a loungy format, "Spies In Love" borders on pretty, but has just enough chop chord edge to keep it on the rock side. Pleasant, but squarely in the foreground.

Surf A Roma dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Surf A Roma" rises from a gentle pattern and whammy chords to an infectious rhythmic number with a western melody and very warm sound. I think this is the surprise of the release, with serious coolness and flow. There's drama, rhythm, and a splendid melody line, along with excellent arranging.
