|Agent-V are from Ourense, Spain. Their sound is very fresh and enjoyable. There's a mix of surf and spy and fuzz and go-go. The cover of "Morpheus" here is superbly done. I'd like to hear a whole CD from these guys.|
Picks: La Playa, Jarvis, Componenti, Blow
Track by Track Review
This is a cover of The Toads' "Morpheus." Keyboard wind and waves, thunder crashing, then the rains came. "La Playa" becomes a splashy and engaging number with a long-sparse note structure. The song is well adapted to this band's sound.
Spy Surf Go-Go (Instrumental)
"Jarvis" is a nice little instro with organ lead and surf guitar chords in some verses, and fuzz lead in others. It has a sixties AABA spy feel. It's an easy to enjoy simple song with spy classic referential licks and a small combo go-go feel. Great fun.
Dark heavy fuzz and organ in a deep wash of spatial reverb. Imagine one of Davie Allan's lighter moods in the sixties in a big steel warehouse. It's kinda like that. Very strange, semi psychedelic, and weird.
"Blow" is a minimal progression in a thickly layered soundscape. There are some glissandos and fuzz and swirly organ. It gets more engaging as it goes along.
